Winter Jobs

Managed to get a few bits and pieces upgraded or changed over the winter. One was a new rear parcel shelf.

When the Escort made it back on the road I could not find an original rear parcel shelf so fitted a fiberglass one and ever since I have been faffing with it to stop the squeaking!….without success, it must have been out almost 5 times adding foam and tape.

I found an original one but it needed a few repairs, the edges had feathered and had some extra speaker holes. First I glued and clamped the edges with PVA glue. I wrapped the blocks used as clamps in Sellotape to stop the glue sticking to them.

Luckily the holes were only small, so I got away with not having to copy the grain in the parcel shelf, if you need to there are loads of videos on Youtube like this one Here.

A bit of paint and sanding

The foam backing was mostly still fitted but was starting to crumble so I used it as a pattern for some new foam. Then fitted and the test………………..any squeeks???
